Dr. Eileen Lau
Dr. Eileen Lau, a native to the San Francisco Bay Area, recently moved to the islands after graduating from the Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine (summer of 2011) to marry the love of her life. She completed her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley where she double majored in Integrative Biology and Music. Her clinical experiences include six years in wildlife rehabilitation, one year as an environmental enrichment technician/research associate, two years as a veterinary technician and one year as a veterinary anesthetist.
While in school, Dr. Lau was president of Veterinary Students for Animal Welfare and vice president of the Feline Medicine Club. Her specific areas of interest include anesthesia, feline medicine, and exotic animal medicine (small mammals and birds in particular). She is also a member of the Evidence-Based Medicine Association.
In her free time, she enjoys snorkeling, playing piano, playing the harp, singing karaoke, cooking, and spending time talking story with loved ones at the beach. She is eager to explore the many wonders this island has to offer and looks forward to forming meaningful relationships with pets and owners in the years to come.
Dr. Shauna Mead
Dr. Shauna Mead is native to upstate New York where she learned at a young age she had a life long desire to care for animals. Her undergraduate studies were at Utica College of Syracuse University, majoring in biology. When she wasn't studying, she took pride in working at New Hartford Animal Hospital as an assistant and volunteering at a monthly spay and neuter release clinic.
She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean and found another love: the ocean. While in veterinary school she was a leading member of PAWS (People for Animal Welfare on St. Kitts), which included being a foster to multiple dogs. After spending her last year of veterinary school at Cornell University, her fiance and multiple four-legged children ventured to San Diego. A year was spent at California Veterinary Specialists doing a rotating internship focused on small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Since completion of the internship in 2010 she has worked as an associate general practitioner and as an emergency clinician, as well as welcomed her first daughter into the world.
All areas of veterinary medicine are of interest; currently she is focusing on strengthening her ability to perform ultrasounds. On days off she plans to help Dr. Hatt with spay/neuter release programs, surf, hike, and establish a home in beautiful Hawaii.

BETH and BLAINE (NOT PICTURED: ANNE MARIE)
Our boarding staff may be smaller but they play a big part in your pets' care. They are responsible for all your pets' boarding needs when they have sleep overs with us. They also do bathing, brushing, and spend play time with each individual guest. In addition to their regular duties they can be found throughout the hospital helping everybody else, two legged and four legged. Without their extra hands we could not be as efficient as we are. They make all the difference in the world.
Animal House Veterinary Center is always accepting applications/resumes.
